Thank you all so much for praying with us to end slavery. We appreciate how you are taking time to pray for your community, nation and the world. This week we are praying for the freedom of people trapped in forced labor.
As with all slavery, forced labor happens almost everywhere in the world from the United States to Cambodia. Tomato fields in the U.S., sweatshops in Asia, and brick kilns in India. Women, children and men are forced to work against their will, never allowed to leave and many times locked in situations through debt bondage and threats to their personal safety or to their families. In many industries slavery has become a way of doing business, a persons life has become a means to an end to supply the demand with a cheaper product.
This week our prayers will help change that, through asking God to intervene on behalf of these people. To bring hope and freedom to them through our prayers and actions. Here are a few prayer points as a guide to pray for the end of forced labor.
- Freedom: People living in situations of forced labor would be freed.
- Governments, Law enforcement and people: Would stand against forced labor. Be a voice to people that cannot speak for themselves. Integrity and honor would be in governments and law enforcement to uphold laws.
- Prevention: That people would be aware of traffickers tricks.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness.”
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
Thank you all for standing with us in prayer against forced labor your prayers are changing the world and bringing freedom to people around the world.
